Meeting LP Expectations on ESG is an interactive, virtual training targeting the growing universe of managers committed to ESG outcomes.
The three-hour curriculum will be led by a Practitioner Faculty of LPs and GPs with deep expertise in ESG and ESG reporting. The session will:

Fund Reporting: Fulfilling DFI and Commercial LP Requirements
Presentation and discussion
This session will highlight the different methods DFIs and LPs use in evaluating GPs on ESG metrics, and explore how GPs can better meet LP expectations. With presentations from the IFC and HarbourVest, speakers will discuss how technical and practical ESG approaches work together to mitigate headline risk.
Christopher Walker, Principal and ESG Chairman, HarbourVest
Christopher Walker joined the Firm in 1998 as an associate in the secondary partnership group. In 1999, he joined the primary partnership group and has focused most of his efforts on US venture capital and buyout investments. Chris also has extensive experience working on the healthcare sector, as well as primary partnerships in Canada. He chairs the ESG Committee and currently serves on the advisory committees for partnerships managed by Caltius Capital Management, Columbia Capital, Endeavor Capital, Essex Woodlands Health Ventures, Galen Associates, Genesys Ventures, Georgian Partners, Information Venture Partners, Mission Ventures, Sanderling Ventures, Valhalla Partners, Vector Capital, and The Wicks Group.
Previously, Chris served as a pilot in the United States Navy for 11 years, flying the P-3 Orion aircraft, and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
He received a BS in Finance from Providence College in 1986 and an MS in Finance from the Carroll School of Management Program at Boston College in 1998.
Natasha Buckley, Vice President of ESG, HarbourVest
Natasha Buckley joined HarbourVest in 2019 and is responsible for sustaining the Firm’s ESG strategy and partnering with our general partners, limited partners, and the Firm’s employees to embrace sustainable investing.
Natasha joined HarbourVest from Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), where she was responsible for their work in the private equity sector, developing tools and resources for PRI signatories to integrate ESG considerations into their investment processes. During her time at PRI, Natasha co-authored the organization’s guide for general partners, and guidance for LPs and GPs on ESG in fund selection, fund terms and fund monitoring/reporting.
Natasha received a BA in History from University College London, an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and has completed the University of Oxford Private Equity Programme at the Saïd Business School.
Jen Petrini, Senior Investment Officer, IFC
Jen has been IFC’s Regional Lead for Fund investments in Latin America for the last five years, where she oversees the funds program for the region. She began her career with IFC in the Cairo office, and was then based in Istanbul for 4 years, where she covered new and existing funds business for IFC’s funds practice. Prior to joining IFC in 2010, Jen worked at EMP Global, a Washington-based emerging markets private equity firm. Jen has been investing in funds for over 15 years, sits on fund advisory committees and has overseen investments in the Middle East, North Africa, Russia, Europe, Asia and across Latin America. From 1999-2005 she worked for Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas in New York in Interest Rate Derivative and Credit Derivative trading and operations. Jen has a B.A. in International Business from Lehigh University and an M.A. in International Economics from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS).
Felipe Albertani, E&S Development Specialist, IFC
Felipe Albertani is an Environmental Specialist with IFC’s ESG department, where he has been working for the past 10 years on E&S risk management solutions for financial institutions. Felipe has a master’s degree in environmental management and has worked in academia, the non-profit sector, the Inter-American Development Bank and as an independent consultant before joining IFC.
Session 2: Learning from GP Practitioners
Practical Lessons for Implementing ESG in Companies and Projects
Presentation and discussion
In this session, practitioner faculty will address how to design and implement practical ESG policies at the portfolio company level. Presentations will highlight how GPs forge relationships with management and resource the ESG function to capture relevant information, from carbon emissions to labor considerations.
